All eyes will be at Wembley Stadium this weekend as the FA Cup semi-finals take place, with Manchester City facing Chelsea on Saturday and Man United visiting Coventry on Sunday. Here’s a preview of both matches.
Manchester City vs Chelsea | 20 April | 18:15
FA Cup semi-final action kicks off on Saturday afternoon when Manchester City take on Chelsea. This makes up for an exciting match as this fixture has provided plenty of goals in recent times. Chelsea, despite enduring a difficult season, have had very good cup runs, having made it to the final of the Carabao Cup and now the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The Blues have been on the best run of form they’ve had in a while, going 9 matches unbeaten in all competitions, scoring 28 goals in the process and winning their last match 6-0 against Everton. They will be hoping to make it 10 and advance to the final, though this will be no easy task against a City side who have just been knocked out of the Champions League and are desperate for silverware. However, their attack might just pose the threat needed to overcome City, especially with the form that Cole Palmer and co. have been in.
City will be hoping to bounce back quickly after some disappointment earlier in the week when Real Madrid managed to edge past them in the Champions League and beat them in the penalty shootout. City played brilliant football and kept knocking on Real’s door throughout the match, but Los Blancos were rock solid at the back. They will be hoping for a similar display this weekend which might be more effective against a Chelsea side who have their fair share of defensive difficulties.
Prediction: Over 3.5 total goals which is available at very decent odds @ 2.36.
Coventry vs Man United | 21 April | 16:30
The 2nd semi-final takes place on Sunday, where Manchester United will be taking on Championship outfit Coventry. The Red Devils will be desperate to win this tie, and the cup, as this is the only piece of silverware that they can get in what has been a tough season for a club with so much expectation.
This will require a turnaround in form as United have been really average since their quarterfinal win over Liverpool, winning none of their 4 matches, losing 1 and drawing 3. But Coventry have been struggling even more in the Championship as they have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, and it is difficult to see them getting past this United side and making it to the final.
My prediction for this match is a straight win for United @ 1.53. I would also give a look at is under 3.5 total goals, which is available @ 1.64
