Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says the 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows was an unfair reflection of the game as he believes that his charges should have won comfortably.
Patrick Maswanganyi saved Pirates’ blushes, equalizing eight minutes into the second half.
Pirates went into halftime trailing by a solitary goal scored by Lindokuhle Mtshali in the 26th minute.
Riveiro insisted that his players failed to make the right decisions in critical situations.
“It was a difficult game to play, really fast. I think we played good football; our mistake punished us in the first half, the only action where the opponent managed to shoot on target.
“The game was all for us, but we missed the last pass or the last touch in the box. I think we played a good game of football but not a good result.
“I think we started very fast, dominating, with all the control of the game, the opponent struggling to contain us in the central corridor, so it’s easy to see that it was just a question of time before we capitalized.
“But then we conceded one goal, and after that, we were a little bit in a hurry, trying to score the second before the first one. I think in the second half, we started well; we equalized,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.
Riveiro added that he was pleased with the team’s performance despite dropping points for a second straight game.
“You know these types of games when you go to the last minute, chasing one goal, it’s always the same, there are interruptions, breaking the rhythm, it’s difficult.
“But overall, I’m happy with the performance of the guys; I think today they showed that they are here to compete, and yeah, we move,” added Riveiro.
