The South African Football Association (SAFA) has firmly rejected claims that Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is set to join the Tunisia national team.
The head coach position in the Tunisian national team is still vacant following Jalel Kadri’s decision to resign in the aftermath of their group stage elimination at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Numerous media sources in Tunisia had been linking Broos with the role of head coach over the weekend.
SAFA has issued a strong message to stop the rumors. Speaking to IOL Sport, SAFA head of communications confirmed that Broos was leading ahead of today’s FIFA Friendly Series against Algeria.
“The coach answered this very same question during a Zoom press briefing with South African media a couple of days ago, and nothing has changed. We are at training at the match venue as we speak,” he added.

Broos also denied the links in the last week, confirming he had read about rumors but there was nothing on the table.
“I heard rumors that Algeria were interested, that Tunisia were interested, and some other teams, also Brugges,” he said last week.
“But again, there are no negotiations. I didn’t see the people of Brugge. I know only that I am on the list and one of the candidates, so let’s see what happens in the future,” he stated.
