Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe says they are expecting a tough battle in the Olympic qualifier against Nigeria that is set to be played on the 9th of April.
Banyana progressed to the last qualifying phase of the 2024 Paris Olympics after defeating Tanzania 4-0 on aggregate. Banyana won the first leg 3-0 in Tanzania before winning the second by one goal at home.
The Mexico-based forward says they want to make up for missing the Olympic Games in 2021.
“There is still a lot to work on, and we are going to face Nigeria, which is a super, super tough opponent.
“We’ve seen them so many times over the past couple of years, and we had great results, but it’s not going to be easy. We are all gunning for that spot to go to the Olympics.
“We haven’t been there for the past one, I think. So yeah, that’s our goal, and I think everyone will go back and watch the game and see where we have to improve on and going forward what we need to do,” Seoposenwe explained.

Seoposenwe recently earned her 100th cap in the 1-0 win over Tanzania. The Monterrey striker says her 14 years in the national team have been an honor.
“It’s a privilege and an honor always to walk out for the national team. We’ve grown in leaps and bounds. It’s been 14 years for me being a part of the national team, and everyone has played such a big role in my journey in the national teams, you know, ups and downs.
“We’ve grown so much; I mean, coming from WAFCON going to the World Cup, you could see the growth in this team and you can see where we are going and what we want to continue to achieve. But that takes a lot of work and determination, but yeah, I’m so proud to be a part of this team,” she added.
