Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro labeled the performance against Cape Town Spurs as “one of their worst games ever”, with the Sea Robbers settling for a 1-1 draw despite leading by half-time.
Relebohile Mofokeng gave the Buccaneers an early lead in the 12th minute, and Bucs temporarily moved into second place on the DSTV Premiership.
Spurs eventually found the equliaser after the break through Tanzanian forward Gadiel Kamagi in the 76th minute
The result leaves Spurs rooted to the bottom with 11 points while the Buccaneers are still in fourth place.
Riveiro was furious with the performance at Orlando Stadium.
“A terrible one, one of our worst games ever. Difficult to swallow, difficult to understand. Difficult in the beginning to manipulate the spaces but we managed to find two, three times the proper spaces to be in advantage.
“But then we just stop, we were not aggressive in the pressing, we just allow them to run comfortable in transition when they have the opportunity.
“We didn’t apply in the loss in their own half. In the second half, I don’t know we were just waiting for the goal to start to attack again,” said Riveiro.
The Urban Warriors have now collected four points against Pirates this season, having prevailed 2-1 in the first round at Athlone Stadium.
“We were really passive, not taking any risk from the first line in the pressing as well, they found the spaces anytime they wanted.
“Difficult to explain, a really bad game from our side. It’s time to be critic and for sure do it better the next time,” added Riveiro.
Pirates’ next game is against fierce rivals  Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.
