Duba reveals his strike for Kaizer Chiefs was inspired by Man City star

Kaizer Chiefs teenage striker Wandile Duba says his neatly taken curling goal in the 1-0 win over Golden Arrows was inspired by watching Phil Foden’s in the Manchester Derby over the weekend.
Duba (19) repaid interim coach Cavin Johnson by scoring his first top-flight goal. The teenager was making his first start in the DSTV Premiership.
The result moved Chiefs to 29 points, level with Orlando Pirates who they’ll face in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.
Duba was forced off with an injury in the second-half but confirmed that he’ll be fit to return for the Soweto Derby.
“It’s not something that you can worry about. I think the physios will do something but I’ll be ok for the derby. They should expect me because I’m coming,” Duba told SuperSport TV.
Duba says his wonderful goal came as a result of studying Foden’s cracking equaliser in the Manchester derby as Man City eventually secured a 3-1 win.
“They did tell me if I believe in myself, I will score because I’ve been working hard in training.
“Did you see Foden in the Manchester derby, did you see what he did? He got inside and scored,” Duba noted.
Interim coach Johnson reserved special praise for Duba and also explained his substitution.
“They played a little bit better than us in some moments, especially the dying moments but the team held together and I’m happy that we maintained the clean sheet which is important for the team going into the next game.
“But I’m also happy for young Duba, who came in and scored a beauty of a goal in the first-half and then of course I had to take him off the pitch because his ankle got hurt.
“So those are little things that you give a youngster a moment and he’s good. He gets hurt, you take him out and you feel sorry for him but overall I thought we could have played better in the second-half,” he told SuperSport TV.
