Liverpool secured their historic 10th League Cup title at Wembley, courtesy of Van Dijk’s header deep into extra time.

In a thrilling Sunday afternoon encounter against Chelsea, Liverpool clinched an extra-time victory, making them the first team to claim 10 Carabao Cup titles.

The Reds fielded an unusual lineup, with key players such as Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, and others sidelined due to injuries. The team faced another setback in the first half when Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off with an ankle injury, having been stepped on by Moises Caicedo.

Despite these challenges, Jurgen Klopp’s side persevered, aided by impressive saves from second-choice keeper Kelleher. Despite creating opportunities, the match remained 0-0 after 90 minutes.

As extra time unfolded, Chelsea struggled to break through the Liverpool backline after making changes to their front three, and fatigue started to affect their performance. With three minutes left to play, Liverpool earned a crucial corner.

Captain Virgil Van rose above the Chelsea defense, connecting with Tsimikas’ cross to head the ball into the net, securing the title for Liverpool and marking Chelsea’s sixth consecutive domestic final defeat. Liverpool aims to leverage this momentum in the title race, striving for success in what is set to be Klopp’s final season in Merseyside.
