French international Kylian Mbappé is on the verge of signing with the Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it’s only a matter of time before he puts pen to paper with the 14-time Champions League winners.
“Kylian Mbappé is finalizing the details of his move to Real Madrid, valid from July 1 (2024). Image rights, a huge signing fee, and then the fixed salary to be in line with stars like Vini Jr and (Jude) Bellingham,” wrote Romano on his social media pages.
The 25-year-old is expected to earn €15 million a year (R306 million), and his signing-on fee could be in the region of €150 million (R3 billion).
As reported by Sky Sports, PSG turned down a €220 million (R4.4 billion) offer for Mbappé from Real Madrid in August 2021. The forward then chose to sign a new three-year deal with the Ligue 1 club. With the current deal set to expire in June 2024, Mbappé will join Real Madrid as a free agent, which will be a big loss for PSG.
Mbappé has scored 244 goals and produced 93 assists in 291 games for PSG and won five Ligue 1 titles. “This will be the most expensive free transfer in history,” added Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.
