Thembinkosi Lorch says he is hoping to make his debut for Mamelodi Sundowns against former team Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Lorch (30) completed a Deadline Day move to Sundowns, having spent eight and a half years with the Sea Robbers.
Lorch, attending the pre-match press conference alongside Rulani Mokoena, thanked Dr. Irvin Khoza for affording him the opportunity to don the black jersey.
“First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank my former team, Orlando Pirates, especially Dr Irvin Khoza for giving me the opportunity to play for a team like Orlando Pirates.
“I remember I signed when I was 22 years and left there when I’m 30, so I’m grateful for the opportunity that he gave me. Pirates will always have a special place in my heart.
“And also I want to thank the President of Mamelodi Sundowns for believing in me, and for bringing me into this beautiful team and I’m looking forward to give my best for this team too,” Lorch noted.
Lorch insists he is gradually settling in at Chloorkop and all available players are pushing for selection.
“I think the team welcomed me well in the team. The spirit in the team is very good. Everyone wants to play, every player wants to play over the weekend. Because we’re playing Pirates, it’s a big team it’s a big game. So ja, the coach will decide who plays so it’s up to the coach,” Lorch insisted.
Nyoso admitted that facing his former side will be emotional for him.
“It’s difficult to play my first game, especially against my former team. But yeah, life, we need to move on. I’m hoping that I will start over the weekend and do my best for my team,” said Lorch.
Sundowns are unbeaten in their past seven league fixtures against Pirates. Rulani Charges have won six of those encounters.
