Nigeria’s hero Stanley Nwabali praised the team’s collective performance in the 4-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday. 
Nwabali saved two spot-kicks to ensure Nigeria’s passage to the final, to be played against host nation Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.
The bulky goalkeeper earned the Man of the Match honors for his display, having denied Bafana two goalscoring chances in the first half.
 “It has been a good team performance throughout this tournament. I really appreciate the management and coaches,” said Nwabali.
The Chippa United goalie also praised head coach Jose Peseiro for visiting him in his club prior to to the beginning of the tournament

“When the coach informed me he was coming to visit, for me it was one of the biggest things. A coach to come visit was a motivation. When he said he was coming I was really pleased.
These guys have really guided me a lot throughout this tournament, and I feel so happy,” he said.
