New Mamelodi Sundowns signing Thembinkosi Lorch says the club’s winning culture is one of the reasons he opted to leave Orlando Pirates and join the Brazilians.
Lorch (30) completed his move on Deadline Day.
His move to the reigning DSTV Premiership champions came as a shock, setting off debates about Downs’ spending power and competition in the PSL.
Lorch had spent seven-and-a-half-years at the club having joined from Maluti FET College in 2013.
“Leaving was tough, given the time I spent wearing the Pirates jersey and the love I received from the fans.
However, I believe that making this move is a crucial step in my career at this time. Being in this new environment and joining a winning team like Sundowns feels incredibly satisfying.

“I am eager to contribute my best and continue achieving success in this new chapter of my football journey,” he told Sundowns Magazine.
Nyoso says the decision to join Sundowns also shocked some of his family members.
“Whatever makes me happy, they always support me,” he added.
“Of course, some family members didn’t see the move coming, but that is football. Change is part of the game and I appreciate the support from those closest to me,” said Lorch.
