Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has revealed the club has set a mandate of competing in the CAF Competitions next season.

Chiefs are preparing for the 2023/24 season restart, which will begin on February 13.

Bvuma, who was re-instated as the first choice goalkeeper under interim head coach Cavin Johnson, believes that the Glamour Boys can finish in a better position.

‘There is a lot to play for. We are looking forward… for the league to resume so we can fight and finish in a better position. We would like to go back to Africa, that is one of our targets for the season,“ said Bvuma in an interview with Prime Sports with Mahlatse.

Amakhosi are five points behind in the race for automatic CAF spots, with Cape Town City and SuperSport United currently placed second and third in the league. Chiefs, who are in sixth place, need to secure a top three finish or win the Nedbank Cup so they can ensure a spot in the CAF competitions next season.

“Of course we still want to play the Nedbank Cup so we are looking forward to all the games and winning a trophy would be great,” said Bvuma.

The club has endured a four-year wait for continental football, having last featured in 2020 when they were defeated 3-0 by Egypt’s Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League. Bvuma was a key player when Chiefs made it to the final, making numerous outstanding saves during the historic semi-final win over Wydad Casablanca.
