Tottenham twice battled back from a goal deficit, as goals from Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur saw them earn a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

The point was enough to move Spurs level with Arsenal on 40 points on the table, although they stay fifth on goal difference. Manchester United meanwhile are in 7th spot.

Speaking after the game Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou told BBC’s Match of the Day: “You always want to win games, but I couldn’t be prouder of the players. They have had to deal with a fair bit this week and to put on a performance like that… I thought the way we handled the game was outstanding.

“They are a good team on the counter. For the most part we dealt with it OK. Our response to both of their goals was outstanding and I thought in the second half we were the better side and deserved to win.

“We’ve had a rough week with some illness in the camp. Credit to the players they kept going to the end. It was an outstanding effort.

“Timo had two training sessions and played 60 minutes for the club. He was outstanding.

“We have 10 days until the next game, hopefully get some players back and at least some training into these boys. We will give them some time off because they have earned it.”

Tottenham’s next action is on 26 January when they host Manchester City.
