Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of this season after falling out with Erik ten Hag.
Sancho was with Dortmund for four seasons before joining United in 2021.
He will return to the German Bundesliga club until the end of the 2023-24 season.
“Sancho has made 82 Reds appearances so far, scoring 12 goals across all competitions and winning the Carabao Cup in 2023,” read a statement from United.
“Sancho will now return to Germany on a temporary basis as Borussia Dortmund prepare to resume their Bundesliga campaign after a winter break.
“The England international of 23 caps leaves with our best wishes for the remainder of this season.”
Last year, Sancho publicly disputed manager Erik ten Hag’s selection tactics after a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the English Premier League. He has not played for United since.
“It is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards and it was about that,” ten Hag said at the time.
“What will happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return and it is up to him. He knows what he has to do, it is up to him. “We will see what will happen. It is an internal matter, we will see what will happen.”
Reacting to the move, the player expressed joy in return to a place that feels like home to him.
