As Fulham prepare to face Liverpool in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, manager Marco Silva has said that he is very happy with his squad and is unlikely to add to it during the January transfer window.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game the Portuguese manager, whose side are currently 13 on the Premier League table with 24 points, hinted that if the Cottagers were to dabble in the market that it would be for a striker.

“Of course, I am happy with the squad. I cannot hide to you that I am happy,” he said.

“Of course, we made some changes last summer. We lost a player who was really important for us. In that moment we had four strikers because we had Mitro [Aleksandar Mitrovic] and already signed Raul Jimenez. It was not in our mind to lose any strikers.

“Since we lost the striker, we are not able to replace him because in that moment it was not possible to sign another one.

“Let’s see what happens the next few days.

“When I said it would be quiet that was the feedback I got from a financial point of view. It makes sense to go into the market if you have the capacity to really improve the squad and do something that will really impact the squad.

“Sometimes it’s better to not do it. For me it is clear. For us to try to sign someone it has be someone who can really add something to the squad. To add quality. To be at a level to make an impact. Sometimes you can do it if you have the money to do it.

“When I say it’s going to be quiet, it’s because the feedback is from the financial point of view that’s not going to be possible,” he said.
