Midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is looking forward to an extended run in Kaizer Chiefs’ playing XI after overcoming a spate of injuries.
Ngcobo played two of Chiefs’ first 10 matches of the 2023-24 Premier League season prior to coach Molefi Ntseki’s exit. Since interim coach Cavin Johnson’s appointment, Ngcobo has played four successive PSL fixtures.
Having not featured for Chiefs in eight of the first 10 games of the season under Molefi Ntseki, the diminutive talent has now started all four games under interim coach Cavin Johnson.
“I have a contract with Kaizer Chiefs. I’m working hard and I’m focusing on the next game to get three points and I can say my blood is gold and black,” Ngcobo was quoted as saying by iDiski Times.
“Yes, I’ve had challenges with some injuries, but now I’m back, focused and I want to make sure I stay fit and play more games.
“I was sitting on the sidelines, I was preparing myself so that when I get a chance to play I can try and help the team.
“Sometimes I do get that I have not lived up to my potential, but I’m working on my game and trying not to rush too much. I’m working on my game and working on making sure I get where I want to be.”
Chiefs are currently in sixth position on this season’s PSL points table. They have won six, drawn two and lost six matches.
Johnson’s team have two PSL fixtures remaining this year. They will play Richards Bay on 23 December and Sekhukhune United on 30 December.
“Everyone is doing their best and doing everything to make sure the team gets maximum points and playing well,” concluded Ngcobo.
