Cape Town Spurs remained rooted to the foot of the 2023-24 DStv Premiership table after another defeat on Tuesday.
Spurs lost 3-0 to Stellenbosch, who moved to fourth position on 20 points. Spurs, meanwhile, have a mere three points after one win and 12 defeats this season.
The Urban Warriors started the game on the front foot and created a couple of notable goal scoring opportunities inside the first five minutes of the match.
Luvuyo Phewa and Rushwin Dortley came close to opening the scoring at the start of the game but were unable to convert the chances going forward.
However, Stellenbosch took the lead in the 8th minute of the encounter, as Iqraam Rayners opened scoring.
Despite a positive start to the subsequent 45, Jayden Adams and Darrel Matsheke rounded off the scoring to record a 3-0 win in Cape Town.
SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet in Pretoria on Wednesday. Reigning champions and second-placed Sundowns have 24 points to SuperSport’s 23 on the points table.
“He remains an inspiration. He’s a very nice guy, good human being and that helps to be a good coach and he’s someone I’ve got huge admiration for,” Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena of SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt.
“But for sure for 90 minutes that disappears and we go full throttle and try to get through the points.”
