Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler believes his star forward and current DStv Premiership top scorer, Khanyisa Mayo, still has a lot to work on to ascend to the next level as a player.
Mayo has scored six goals in 13 league appearances this season and is the joint top scorer with Moroka Swallows’ Tshegofatsa Mabasa. Based on his current form and goal-scoring rate, Mayo seems to be on track to outperform the 12 goals he scored in 27 games last season.
This campaign, he might find additional motivation from ongoing transfer speculation linking him with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

Speaking after their 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday, Tinkler expressed that he is not overly concerned about transfer rumors surrounding his forward.
“You can’t worry about that, and Mayo needs to focus on what he’s doing now,” said Tinkler.
“Opportunities in life arise from scoring goals, winning competitions, clinching cups, and securing league victories. It’s not one performance that will secure a move; it will be many performances.
“Mayo still has a lot of work to do in his game to truly reach the level I consider the highest standard. I believe there are still aspects to improve; for instance, tonight he missed a couple of chances he should have put away.
“And for top strikers, such expectations are part of the game.”
