SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has urged critics to afford Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, more respect and has wished him well for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Broos has copped plenty of criticism in the wake of South Africa’s 2-0 defeat to Rwanda in this week’s FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture in Butare.

“He is more knowledgeable. He is older than all of us,” Hunt told iDiski Times.

“He has coached teams that won and I don’t think we respect him enough. I don’t think we give him his time of day enough and I think it has been a bit disrespectful – what’s happened to him from what I hear.

“He has told me a few stories and I was very disappointed because we shouldn’t be like that. Hugo has my my full support and you could learn so much from the guy.”

Broos will likely be in charge of Bafana Bafana for early next year’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign. South Africa have been pooled with Tunisia, Mali and Namibia for AFCON.

“We should be tapping into his knowledge and how we can improve things in South Africa. I wish him well in January and I hope it’s really successful. I really do,” added Hunt.

“He asked me about players and I gave him my opinion because it’s only about opinions of players – what I think, what I don’t think and he’s a fantastic guy. And you know a guy like that, we should be tapping into his knowledge.”
