Cape Town Spurs’ Technical director Sean Connor has conceded his side is lacking confidence ahead of next week’s DStv Premiership fixture against Royal AM.
Spurs are at the bottom of the 2023-24 PSL points table after one win and 10 draws. Their only victory was over Orlando Pirates.
“Obviously there are tensions of where we are, but I don’t think we should take it on the pitch,” said Connor.
“So I just think sometimes we need to have a proactive execution and lack of confidence is a difficult thing to get it right.
“My job is to try and lift them, try and keep on working hard and see where we go from here.”
Spurs most recent result was a 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay. They are in second-last position – and six points ahead of Spurs.
“Any positive result on Sunday would have maintained that pressure and now Richards Bay got a bit of a breather,” added Connor.
“But we still have a game in hand and if we win that game, we get back to within three points. As long as we get back to within three points, they are coming to Cape Town, so let’s see.”
After playing Royal AM, Spurs will face Stellenbosch, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu and Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership across the rest of the year.
