Chippa United have confirmed the surprise departure of Technical Director, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who only joined them two months ago.
Vilakazi joined Chippa United from Golden Arrows in September 2023, in a move that raised a couple of eyebrows.
“Chippa United FC wishes to announce that Mr Vusumuzi Vilakazi has resigned from his position as technical director,” read a statement from the club.
“While his tenure with us was unexpectedly brief, we respect Mr Vusumuzi’s decision to step down.
“Mr Vilakazi’s decision has indeed come as a surprise as we had looked forward to a longer collaboration, drawing on his fresh perspective and youthful vigour.
“However, we respect his choice to pursue the next chapter in his professional journey. In moving forward, We thank Mr Vilakazi for his service and close this chapter with mutual respect and goodwill.”
Chippa United currently occupy eighth position on the 2023-24 Premier Soccer League points table. They have won three, drawn five and lost three matches. Their most recent result was 2-1 defeat to Cape Town City. Chippa will play Stellenbosch on Saturday.
