The Cricket World Cup continues this weekend with many looking forward to the India vs South Africa game with both teams on top form.
Here’s a preview for that match and Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka.
India vs South Africa | Cricket World Cup Match 37 | Sunday 5 November 2023 | Eden Gardens, Kolkata | 10:30
India have been the best team at this tournament and few are looking past them as the eventual winners of this tournament but South Africa represent the biggest challenge they have faced to date.
While India have derived their dominance from surprising pace supremacy, the Proteas are contenders because of their batting in a World Cup that has turned conventions on their head.
The Proteas know their roles well, and there are no passengers in this team, but they still need to show they can execute under pressure.
India will almost certainly manage to put the South Africans under some sort of pressure, and the toss will be an intriguing affair.
Verdict: India win
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka | Cricket World Cup Match 38 | Monday 6 November 2023 | Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi | 10:30
If Australia and New Zealand win over the weekend, this match will be rendered a dead rubber, but if either suffers defeat, Sri Lanka will need a huge win to keep themselves in the hunt for the last four.
That seems like a long shot, given the size of the beatings Sri Lanka have taken in this tournament.
More likely, this will be a scuffle that is significant for the Champions Trophy places that are still on the line.
Bangladesh might feel that they still have a shot of making the next ICC ODI event if they can mug Sri Lanka.
Verdict: Sri Lanka win
