Erik ten Hag has vowed to turn things around at Manchester United after their 3-0 home defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The Magpies secured a spot in the quarter-finals, where they are set to face Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Manchester United has dropped to eighth place in the 2023-24 English Premier League standings. They have won five and lost five matches and pressure is mounting on Ten Hag.
“I understand that when results are not there, it is a logical process to question the manager. But I am confident I can turn things around. At the moment, we are in a tough spot, and I take responsibility for it. I see it as a challenge,” said Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
“Thank you for your continued support. Even in these difficult moments, you stand by us. We may not deserve it right now because we are not delivering top performances. We are trying, but trying is not good enough in top-level football. We understand that. We need to improve and raise our standards.”

Manchester United will face Fulham in the English Premier League on Saturday and Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday next week.
“We must stick together, be disciplined, and work as a team. Togetherness is crucial. Everyone must take responsibility, be accountable, and cooperate – that’s the key,” added ten Hag.
“You hope that the players prove themselves, but we are all in this together. Let’s not point fingers at individuals. It’s about us. We’ve had good times, and now we’re going through a rough patch, but we’re in it together. We win together and now we’re facing the challenges together.”
