Cape Town Spurs defeated Orlando Pirates 2-1 in Wednesday’s DStv Premiership fixture at Cape Town Stadium in what marked their first victory of the 2023-24 PSL season.
Lubeni Haukongo and Jarrod Moroole scored in the third and 36th minute for Cape Town Spurs before Evidence Makgopa struck in the 43rd for Pirates.
Cape Town Spurs remain at the bottom of the 16-team points table despite the victory, while Pirates are in the 13th position. Up next they face Kaizer Chiefs next week Wednesday where they’ll be hoping to make it two wins on the bounce.

Elsewhere in the PSL on Wednesday, SuperSport United edged TS Galaxy 3-2 at Mbombela Stadium. Lyle Lackay scored in the seventh minute, giving SuperSport United an early lead before TS Galaxy’s Higor Vidal responded with a penalty two minutes later to level the score.
Lehlogonolo Mojela put TS Galaxy 2-1 up in the 20th minute, and Lackay’s second goal in the 26th, along with Ronald Pfumbidzai’s first in the 84th, completed the scoreline. The result pushed SuperSport United to the second position in the standings, while TS Galaxy are in the eighth position.
The reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, still remain top of the league and have two games in hand.
