Springbok Hooker Malcolm Marx will miss an entire season of rugby for his club in Japan due to the injury that forced him out of the World Cup.
Marx, who plays for the Japanese champions Kubota Spears, stated that although he would miss the current season, he will return to play for the club before his contract expires in 2025.
Taking to social media, Marx posted a video in which he said: “Unfortunately, due to my injury, I won’t be able to play next season, but I will be back for the following season, hopefully…
“Please continue your amazing support for the team. I believe the team and everybody really appreciate it.”

Despite being forced to return home due to the injury, Marx rejoined the team for the final after SA Rugby flew him and the other major injury casualty, Makazole Mapimpi, back to France to share the moment and claim a winner’s medal with the rest of the team.
They are also part of the squad touring different parts of South Africa celebrating winning the World Cup.
